There are weddings that stay with you long after the last dance, and this gorgeous celebration at Olowalu Plantation is one of them. From the moment I met this couple during their pre-wedding festivities—a golden-hour sunset sail and a lively welcome party at Maui Brewing Co.—I knew their entire weekend would be one to remember.
One of my favorite things about photographing couples before the wedding day is how it instantly softens the energy when the wedding day arrives. Instead of stepping in as a stranger with a camera, I get to walk in as someone they already trust. The connection is already built, they’re used to being in front of my lens, and those nerves melt away. By the time the ceremony comes around, everything feels natural, relaxed, and genuinely joyful—and that was exactly the case for this sweet bride and groom.

The couple kicked off their wedding weekend with a sunset sail along the Maui coastline, and it couldn’t have been more picturesque. The wind was soft, the light was dreamy, and the ocean gave us that iconic Maui glow that makes images sparkle. Capturing them laughing with their closest friends and family, drinks in hand, soaking in that golden light—it truly set the tone for the whole celebration.
The next event was their welcome party at Maui Brewing Co., a casual, fun gathering that brought together all their guests. I loved the energy of this evening—laid-back, full of excitement, and the perfect chance for everyone to meet, mingle, and settle into island time. It also gave me another opportunity to photograph the couple in a relaxed setting, which always helps build rapport and calm any camera jitters before the wedding day.

When the wedding day arrived, it was clear how much heart went into every detail. Kristin of Opihi Love coordinated the entire event, and she is truly magic. She has an incredible eye for design, and this wedding was no exception. Every piece—from the layout to the florals to the flow of the day—was intentional and beautifully styled.
The couple chose bright tropical florals, which popped perfectly against the natural greenery of Olowalu Plantation. The ceremony setup was fresh, vibrant, and elegant in that effortlessly Maui way. One of my favorite design moments was the luxurious lounge area set right along the ocean. It was sophisticated, inviting, and gave guests the perfect place to relax while taking in those panoramic waterfront views.
As the sun started to dip, the entire property transformed into pure magic. That signature Olowalu glow wrapped around everyone, creating the perfect ambiance for portraits. The bride and groom were so at ease—another beautiful benefit of spending time shooting together earlier in the week.

When it was time to dance, this crowd did not hold back. The dance floor was full from start to finish, the music was loud, and everyone was ready to celebrate. The combination of warm evening air, twinkling lights, and a lively group of guests created the kind of reception energy photographers dream of.

From the sunset sail to the welcome party to the beautifully designed wedding day, this celebration at Olowalu Plantation was a dream to photograph. I’m so grateful I had the chance to document not just the wedding, but the entire weekend experience—those moments tell such a fuller story of who my couples are and what their celebration truly felt like.
If you’re planning a Maui wedding and want your photography to feel relaxed, connected, and full of joy, I’d love to be part of your day.
